Hosting on a new server

If you are interested in hosting DesignSmart on your own on-site server, but don't already have a server then there are a couple of options available to you:

1.Speak with your local IT support person to see what they recommend. The server will be required to run the FileMaker Server software and those requirements can be found here.

a.Be mindful that  Windows servers can come in a wide variety of configurations and often end up being expensive not only to purchase, but also to maintain. We would be happy to speak with your IT support person to discuss our thoughts for how to keep the server cost down by eliminating many of the typical sever hardware features that drive up the cost.

2.Many design firms who want to host locally should consider hosting DesignSmart on an Apple Mac Mini. It is an affordable option and is suitable even if all of the computers in your office are Windows computers. For more information, please click here.
