Remote Desktop

The term "Remote Desktop" refers to a specific Microsoft technology of the same name that allows users to connect to a server remotely. This is commonly done when you want to run QuickBooks on a remote PC and be able to access it from another computer.  The remote computer can be a Mac or Windows computer, but the computer you are connecting to always has to be a computer running Window Server software.
