PaySmart Application FAQ

Before you can enable payment processing at your design firm, you must submit an application to the PaySmart merchant provider  to create your account.

Will the application save my progress if I stop mid-way?

No. It has to be done in one go!

Who should fill out the application?

It should be filled out by any Individual who owns 25% or more of the business and/or a person who has significant responsibility for the business.

What documents does the merchant need to submit as part of the PaySmart merchant application?

Everyone goes through automated checks to identify the individual in the business. If one of these checks fail, then the following additional information might be requested:

If DOB was a mismatch - they will ask for a Driver's License.

If Address was a mismatch - utility bill or driver's license.

A void check or bank statement might be required.

Future Open: Do I need to provide an EIN?

If the company is a sole proprietorship, you can use your SSN in the EIN box.

Otherwise, the EIN is always required. If you don’t have it yet we can get you going with invoicing for now, and since the application process is so quick, once you do have your EIN you can be up and running in a day!

Why does the application ask for my SSN?

The application requires an SSN number to conduct a background check on a company representative. This process is required by the United States Government in order to comply with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) regulations as outlined in the Bank Secrecy Act. This information is used solely for the application process, it is not stored for future use in our system, and no employee has access to this information.

What is the Annual Processing Volume?

This should be the total amount you expect to be paid in a year.

Is Connecting My Account Via Plaid Secure?

During the application process you'll be asked to use Plaid to enter your banking information. Plaid is secure and supports 11,000+ financial institutions in the US, Canada, and Europe. Banking info that is communicated from Plaid to the participating bank is encrypted. Alternatively, you can add your banking account manually, but this can delay the approval process.

When asked for your Business Website:

Any online presence will be accepted (Social Media Page, Google Business Page, etc…). If you have no online presence, you can write http://nowebsite.com, but this may trigger additional requirements for your application.

Make sure ‘ https:// ‘ is included. For example: https://AcmeDesign.com

When asked for Account Login - Username/Password:

Create a username and password that you will use to log in to the HiMama Payments Portal.

The username cannot be an email.

The PaySmart Merchant Portal is where you will review a fully detailed log of any payment that is made through PaySmart.

Troubleshooting:

If the application is not submitted successfully, you will notice the Sign Up button stays gray.

You will see a red warning triangle (see the “Bank” example below) that indicates there are errors in that section. Navigate back to the section, follow the red error message.
