Custom Report Writer

While most DesignSmart clients are happy to focus on design and have us develop their custom reports, there are those who enjoy using their creative talents to develop their own reports. The optional Custom Report Writer module allows firms to do this.

For example, you might start with our standard Item Status Report and add an additional column of information. Or you might develop a completely new report that is not included in DesignSmart. Over the years DesignSmart clients have developed very impressive reports using this module.

Please be aware that this module requires a fairly high level of computer skills. While this user guide can provide the basics of how the module is setup and how to add a report, it is far beyond the scope of this guide to explain how to the report layout program works. The report writer uses FileMaker Pro to create the reports and most designers will need to spend some time watching YouTube tutorials on how FileMaker reports work. Alternatively you can pay the standard TSD hourly training fee for one-on-one instruction.

Typically persons who have strong computer skills can be developing custom reports within a handful of hours of training and practice. Some clients have manged to create highly technical and aesthetically pleasing custom reports.
