Projects

The design project itself. It can be a room, a home, a commercial space or a hotel.
If your firm uses QuickBooks, a "job" in QuickBooks is the same as a project in DesignSmart.

Items
|
These are the things you specify for a project such as a chair, rug or light fixture. All items are linked to a project.

Expediting
|
This is the term used in DesignSmart to track the status of purchase orders.
|
Primary Spec Item
|
These items consist of things such as chairs and sofas.
|
Component Spec Item
|
Component Spec Items, also referred to as Component Specs, are items that are linked to Primary Items. The most common component spec item is the fabric that goes on a chair or sofa.

Material Invoice
|
An invoice that includes items such as furnishings, labor and freight charges.
|
Service Invoice
|
An invoice that show the work that your design firm has done for the client. The format for this invoice differs from the material invoice in that it has columns to show the billing rate, employee's name, and the hours worked.

System Administrator
|
The one person in your firm who is designated as the "Super User" of the system. Often this person will also train the other users.
|
Project Manager
|
This is the Smart Designer staff person who has been assigned to be your primary point of contact and support.
|
Sidemark
|
The words that are placed on a purchase order that the vendor is requested to tag on the product when it ships.

Attribute
|
Attributes, also known as "prompts", are the details that describe a product. Typical attributes are color, finish, dimensions.

Attribute Value
|
The information you fill in for an attribute. For example, if the attribute is "Color" and you fill in "Off white" then the attribute value is "Off white".

Active Project
|
This is the project you are current working on. On the Projects List View, when you click on a project you make it the Active Project.
