The Companion has a special feature for saving component items that can save designers a good deal of time. Here are the steps for saving component items.
Step 1 Add the Primary Item first to DesignSmart. You will need to know the Item Number for this primary item in one steps below.
Step 2 Enter the Component Item information in the Companion as you normally would
Step 3 Select the name of the project you wish to save it to.
Step 4 When entering the Item Number, enter the item of the primary item followed by a decimal.The decimal indicates that the item should be saved as a componen
DesignSmart will link it to the primary and assign the component the appropriate .01, .02, .03 extension depending on how many items are already linked to the primary.
Step 5 Click the Save Item button
